1980 | I began in business detailing cars in in Portland, OR and eventually moved across the river to Vancouver, WA by the early 1990's. I continued to own and operate a detail shop for several years, during which time it became clearer and clearer to me that I needed to do more than just detail interiors and try to spiff up the exteriors.

1995 | As succeeded in the detailing business, I knew where the big opportunity was and I had to find a new and better way to repair rock chips, scuffs and scratches in vehicle paint. This process is commonly called "touch-up". I knew existing touch-up methods such as dabbing were not the best answer. I continued searching for ways to eliminate the costly, time-consuming processes of taping off and spraying whole car panels to repair them. I knew that most customers did not want any part of paying hundreds of dollars for the cost of spraying only part of their car, or the possibility of drastically altering its original paint. So, I began experimenting with different ways of repairing the chips and scratches. Besides, spraying paint puts paint in the air, landing who knows where, and that was another problem I intended to solve. 

2001 | After months then years of trial and error, I finally had breakthrough and produced, and then Patented, the FinishFirst Process. We were able to truly transform pre-owned cars back to their original showroom new appearance. Customers were happy with the results and even happier with the value we offered for our services.

2003 | My brother Michael and I partnered together to start our new company. Michael was the catalyst that took our new systems to market, and he traveled the country searching for and collaborating with prospective partners to open new markets for our breakthrough process. We continue to produce FinishFirst Auto Appearance products and collaborate with our partners in the field to develop new products.

2006 | Based on our successes, we formed Finish First Auto Appearance, Inc. to create new business opportunities in the multi-billion-dollar Automotive Industry. Our dedicated staff continued to strengthen and grow, and we have molded into a very solid team. We knew that we had the Patented FinishFirst Process and products used across North America at hundreds of locations. Our growth was continuing, but we also knew that there were more opportunities ahead. 

2014 | We continued to work through the years to expand our FinishFirst product lines and our Service Network to include more opportunities and more territories in dozens of states coast to coast and border to border. We had grown to over a fifty Independent FinishFirst Business Owners across the country, all doing the FinishFirst Process with great success.   The FinishFirst Mentor Network continues to grow helping all our independent owners build their businesses.   

2020 | The FinishFirst Nationwide Service Network surpassed 100 independent owners and was continuing to grow. We continued to develop new products and methods to expand our product offerings to meet customer demands. Working through COVID and the impacts it caused taught us many valuable lessons which we used to build our network even stronger. The availability constraints in the New Vehicle Markets caused by supply chain issues increased the demand for Used Vehicles. FinishFirst continued to work with our dealership customers to quickly improve the looks of their used vehicles, maximize their profits, and helped them to turn their inventories faster.

Today | The 2023 used vehicle sales in the United States reached over 37-million units, and our unique program provides owners with many opportunities along with inclusion into the growing FinishFirst Nationwide Service Network. Our network is based on a Mentoring Program which works to help everyone grow and build their FinishFirst businesses. Our Mentoring Programs create opportunities for our experienced FinishFirst Independent Owners to share their successes, methods, tips and tricks to help everyone in the network succeed. We know that nobody has seen everything and sometimes even the old timers learn a thing or two themselves. FinishFirst Mentors are themselves; Independent FinishFirst Business Owners and they work directly serving their own dealership customers and are willing to share their knowledge with others for the benefit of all .

We wanted to make sure that every FinishFirst Business Owner also knows that they have the strong support of our FinishFirst Home Team Staff. We wanted FinishFirst Business Owners to be able to focus on their customers and building their business. We know cash-flow can get a little "crunched" sometimes, especially when starting a new business, so we set about trying to help solve the situation.

To help our independent Owners and Technicians, we decided to provide everyone an electronic services invoicing system interfaced through a powerful, easy-to-use mobile application. that runs on phones and tablets. App users can scan the vehicles VIN and create invoices on their mobile devices right on the dealership lots. FinishFirst pays commissions each week for the previous week's invoiced services. FinishFirst spends the time and resources collecting payments for the invoices from customers, which can sometimes take weeks. Not having to "Chase the Money" and wait for it to come in helps free our FinishFirst Nationwide Service Network to focus on their customers and growing their business, hopefully with a lot fewer headaches. 

There are over 20,000 new vehicle dealerships across the country and even more used dealers. We cannot service every dealership who wants or needs our FinishFirst Services and products.
